-Marantz AV8805 AV Pre-Amplifier (Open Box)

The new Marantz AV8805 AV Pre-Amplifier will improve upon your current home cinema and music listening experiences through unprecedented 13.2 channel processing capabilities and support for almost any high-resolution multi-channel audio format. A wide range of surround sound capabilities is on offer in order to add the sense of a three-dimensional sound space to your viewing experience, with new technologies such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X an Auro-3D formats supported. Support for these surround sound formats has been made possible thanks to Marantz’s proprietary current feedback and HDAM technology that will pass signals through a 15.2 channel XLR or 15.2 RCA output. Streaming music is also possible with this AV Pre-Amplifier thanks to the HEOS app or Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant connectivity. Bluetooth, AirPlay and Wi-Fi connectivity make it even easier to stream all of your favourite music from almost any streaming services or wirelessly connected device.

Construction

The team at Marantz took great care to ensure the AV8805’s construction resulted in the best possible result when it came to unaltered movie and music playback. They have achieved this through the implementation of a highly rigid base – included as a foundation for all of the unit’s circuit boards carrying the sensible audio signal – in order to eradicate the chance of microphonic effects through unwanted vibrations.

An oversized toroidal transformer within the Marantz AV8805 has been included in order to feed the big main capacitors and is set on an extra 5mm aluminium pedestal to achieve greater stability. All electronic components are supported by the copper plating on the main chassis. This copper plating will guarantee only the best ground connection at any point, and will improve Signal to Noise behaviour significantly. A total of seventeen single board HDAM modules have been used within this Pre-Amplifier in order to produce perfect channel separation for a reference-setting audio performance. And to finish it off, everything within the AV8805 is covered well by a heavy top lid that has been constructed using three pieces.

HDMI Connectivity and eARC Object-Based Audio Support

The HDMI section on the AV8805 ensures that this unit is ready for the future of home entertainment. Featuring all of the latest HDMI and HDCP 2.2 specifications over all eight HDMI inputs, this Pre-Amplifier will offer support for virtually any HDMI component. Experience only the best in home cinema entertainment with support included for 4K Ultra HD (UHD) 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Colour sub-sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 21:9 video, 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through over every input. The unit is compatible with 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc players, set top boxes and other 4K Ultra HD sources, and supports Dolby Vision, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), new HDR format for broadcasting, and pass-through capabilities.

The HDMI section also offers HDMI eARC Object-Based Audio Support, a function that supports the transmission of 3D audio from your TV apps with a single HDMI connection. This single HDMI connection provides the simplest setup, and ensures you can achieve the perfect audio experience through all TV integrated apps hassle-free. eARC Object-Based Audio Support will be enabled via a future firmware update.

Dolby Atmos Support

The Marantz AV8805 will offer support over Dolby Atmos surround sound technologies, allowing you to experience the breath-taking sound effects that one would expect when watching a movie at the cinema, right in the comfort of your own home. Atmos technology will completely envelop you in your movie, and really make it feel as though you are right there in the middle of the action.

The sole intention of Dolby Atmos is to make it feel as though you are truly in the middle of all the action. Providing a clarity, power, detail and depth to your home theatre that is truly astonishing, Dolby Atmos is the first home theatre system that has been based on audio objects rather channels. This means that filmmakers are able to decide where the sounds should originate from and where abouts they should move to as the scene progresses. In order to deliver the full object-based soundtrack to your home theatre, Dolby has developed new home authorising tools and new encoding methods that will allow all the audio objects created for use within a cinema to be used within the comfort of your own home.

DTS:X Support

The AV8805 will also offer DTS:X support. The next generation in audio codec from DTS, DTS:X leverages object-based audio to enable immersive and interactive audio experiences. This technology is able to automatically adapt to the existing channels and speaker systems already in your home theatre setup, meaning no specific speaker layout is required. DTS:X will allow you to experience an immersive soundscape with incredibly rich and life-like audio.

Auro 3D Support

Included with the AV8805, Auro 3D is a technology that will elevate your home theatre’s sound to new levels, creating an even more brilliant and lifelike movie experience. Delivering the excitement of three-dimensional sound to all of your music, games, movies and TV shows, Auro 3D’s automatic up-mixing engine will enhance any of your existing audio-visual components.

HEOS Technology and Remote App

With built-in HEOS technology included, the Marantz AV8805 has the capability to become a part of a HEOS multi-room system. This will allow you to enjoy all of your music and video throughout your entire home. Sharing any of your music that you have stored on your home network has been made possible, as well as accessing Internet Radio and online music streaming services, all through the simple connection to any compatible HEOS wireless speaker or receiver. Music streaming services available to you include Spotify, Deezer, TuneIn Internet Radio, Sound Cloud, Tidal, and Napster.

Download the HEOS app to open up a whole new array of control and streaming functionalities. This app is available, for free, from the Apple AppStore and the Google Play Store and will provide you with instant multi-room audio control. The app will give you the option to command music throughout every room via any device, opening up the ability to play different sources in each room, or even the ability to group several rooms together and play the same song throughout your home for the ultimate experience, perfectly synchronised via party mode.

Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, and Wi-Fi Connectivity

Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay connectivity technologies are included with the Marantz AV8805 in order to make your listening options as seamless and as far-reaching as possible. Bluetooth will allow you to connect to any Bluetooth compatible devices, offering the ability to stream all of your favourite music via any online music streaming service, or simply via the music library on your connected device. Apple AirPlay is a connectivity technology created by Apple to enable easy connection to any Apple device. AirPlay works by wirelessly streaming between audio devices, video devices, and device screens. AirPlay will let you stream content from your iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone to the AV8805. And Wi-Fi connectivity will allow you to connect to any compatible device over the home network.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Suite

The Marantz AV8805 also comes with Automatic Room Acoustic Correction via the innovative Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Platinum Suite, a suite of DSP functions that includes room equalisation, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. The automatic room acoustic measurement and correction system will match your speakers to your room's acoustics in order to provide the smoothest and most natural sounding tonal balance. Dynamic EQ will use advanced psychoacoustic algorithms to provide the continual adjustment of tonal balance, ensuring that the sound you hear, even at lower volume levels, is delivered in full range. Dynamic Volume will automatically smooth out any jarring jumps in volume that can sometimes occur as advert breaks begin. Audyssey LFC will prevent bass from passing your walls and distiurbing any neighbours, all the while maintaining the bass performance in the living space. Seamless integration of additional dual subwoofers can be achieved thanks to the Audyssey Sub EQ HT, compensating for any level and delay differences between the two subs, then applying the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 suite to both subwoofers together. This suite of Audyssey features can be controlled via the free MultEQ Editor App.

Digital-to-Analogue Conversion

The Marantz AV8805 includes advanced 32-bit Digital to Analogue conversion over all channels thanks to the eight premium grade AK4490 32-bit Stereo DACs on all channels and XLR inputs and outputs. A balanced XLR stereo input is assignable as well as 15.2 balanced XLR outputs, including the two subwoofer outputs, front height/width outputs and overhead channels. The extensive balanced XLR compatibility within the AV8805 will make sure this unit delivers a high-end performance throughout your home, and the 15.2 pre-outs (RCA jacks) will ensure additional compatibility with multiple power amplifier types.
