The Audioquest Suregrip 100 Spade Terminations are certainly the safer way of connecting your speaker cables to amplifier and speakers, whilst bare wire connections will work, Audioquest Spade Terminals have a larger surface area than bare-wire alone and so more of the 'electronic' signal passes from Amplifier to Speaker and you can ensure that your amplifier is safe due to possible short circuits from loose ends.
The Audioquest Sure Grip 100 Spade Terminations are available in silver and gold plated versions and are constructed from Beryllium rather than the normal standard copper, meaning ther is no underlying layer of shiny nickel that is prone to distortion. By using AudioQuest or other high-quality terminations you are ensuring that your speaker wire is terminated in the best possible way.
Beryllium-Copper is stronger, more conductive, and better sounding than normal phosphor-bronze connectors. Direct-Gold Plating looks dull because there is no distortion-causing shiny nickel layer underneath. It is optimized for sound.
