CYRUS CD6SE CD PLAYER

From: £800.00

Click here to buy from Hifix or to find out more...

It has always been our guiding principle that technologies developed for the Cyrus X series should trickle down to the other ranges. However this year we have developed a new optical servo system that significantly improves the data performance. Normally this type of engineering would be only found in our most expensive models but we have been able to use this circuitry throughout the CD range to replace the loader and laser elements we previously bought-in. As a result, the Cyrus CD 6 SE design takes the fundamentals of last years award winning Cyrus CD8x and adds to this key elements of the new precision slot loading CD drive and the superb SE optical control systems. The result is a special CD player for its price class, benefiting from unusually advanced servo technology and a new slot loading system.

The Cyrus CD 6 SE benefits from the same high specification 24bit differential DAC as the CD 8 SE (although not in a fully balanced topology) and shares much of the CD 8 SE power supply technology (but with a single power transformer, rather than the twin transformer design of the CD 8 SE). The performance of the resulting player has far exceeded our expectations, and is the perfect partner for the highly-rated Cyrus 6vs2 amplifier. Furthermore, the Cyrus CD 6 SE owner can optionally return their player to the Cyrus factory for upgrade to full CD 8 SE specification.

Whilst the Cyrus CD 6 SE is a simpler design than the CD 8 SE, it shares many aspects of the CD 8 SE circuit topology. This is particularly evident in the quality of components used in the power supply, DAC and analogue filter stages. This level of component quality is unusual in a CD player in this class and is an essential part of the winning formula necessary to deliver musical and technical performance to the exacting standards demanded by the Cyrus team

The power supply circuitry of the Cyrus CD 6 SE is driven from a high-grade toroidal transformer with two separate secondary windings. With this configuration it is possible to provide completely isolated power supplies for the differing power requirements of the digital and analogue sections of the player. 11 stages of power regulation provide further stage isolation and the best possible environment for the sensitive analogue stages to work in.

Cyrus products have always delivered sonic excellence hand-in-hand with state-of-the-art technical performance. The Cyrus CD 6 SE is no exception and Cyrus is justifiably proud of the measured performance of the CD 6 SE. With ruler-flat linearity performance, exceptionally low background noise and superb jitter rejection the CD 6 SE is technically superior in its class.

The unique MC-Bus connectivity of the CD 6 SE is in keeping with the total system approach of the Cyrus range of products. This facility enhances ergonomic operation of the unit in a system context. Total automation of the test, alignment and calibration of the CD 6 SE is managed via the MC-Bus coms ports during its manufacturing process, eliminating potential human error.

CYRUS CD8SE CD PLAYER

From: £1100.00

The Cyrus CD 8 SE incorporates the same low-contact precision slot loading CD drive as the Cyrus CD Xt SE transport. The CD 8 SE also benefits from our latest Servo Evolution optical data control systems that greatly improve the integrity of the data we read from the CD. Internally the power supply design features twin, custom made, transformers each feeding individual highly regulated power supplies which in turn feed the 11 separate sections of the player.

The new Cyrus CD 8 SE builds on the design features established by the award-winning Cyrus CD8, by adding further enhancements made available by the technology of the high-end DAC X D/A Converter. Also the Servo Evolution circuitry and our precision slot-loading CD drive help to make this our best integrated CD player yet. Powered by twin toroidal power transformers, an extensive array of selected reservoir capacitors and a bank of power regulators, the new Servo Evolution stage takes the audio performance of the CD 8 SE to a new level for a single box Cyrus CD player. The CD 8 SE is included in the established Cyrus program for product upgrades and is PSX-R compatible. CD6(s) and CD8 owners can also return their players to the Cyrus factory for an upgrade to full CD 8 SE specification.

The Cyrus CD 8 SE's outstanding performance can be expanded further by adding a Cyrus PSX-R power supply, which will help reveal subtle details within the recording; this has to be heard to be full appreciated. When used as an integrated CD player the specially developed DAC circuitry provides outstanding performance. When partnered with our optional DAC X component, the CD 8 SE then operates as a CD transport. Returning the CD 8 SE to Cyrus for upgrade to the dedicated CD transport, CD Xt SE, allows you to move up to one of the finest CD systems in the world. However configured, this player will produce stunning performance and, with the right speakers, an almost holographic 3D image. Cyrus' CD platform is a valuable example of Cyrus' upgrade philosophy. Our systems are designed to grow with our customer's enthusiasm for musical advancement and through a series of affordable upgrades, all the way up, to the ultimate X series.

Packed into the stylish, compact chassis of the Cyrus CD 8 SE are two completely separate toroidal power transformers. One transformer has two entirely separate secondary windings dedicated to feeding the electronics of the disc-reading mechanism and the current hungry motors. The second power transformer, also with two windings, is dedicated to supplying DAC & filter stages. The transformer pair are housed in the forward section of the chassis to minimise interaction with the sensitive analogue output stage. In true Cyrus style the PSX-R power supply may also be connected to further refine the power supply system and take over power supply to the motors.

The unique MC-Bus connectivity of the CD 8 SE is in keeping with the total system approach of the Cyrus range of products. This facility enhances ergonomic operation of the unit in a system context. Total automation of the test, alignment and calibration of the CD 8 SE is facilitated via the MC-Bus during its manufacturing process, eliminating potential human error

CYRUS CDXTSE CD TRANSPORT

From: £800.00

The Cyrus CD Xt SE is the transport or disc spinning half of the ultimate Cyrus CD player system. At the highest levels of CD player development Cyrus have learnt that it is beneficial to separate certain sections of the CD mechanics from the low level decoding sections. The most successful way we have found to do this is to manufacture the player in two separate and isolated die-cast chassis. The benefits of this approach bring higher resolution, quieter background and improved imagery.

With the introduction of the acclaimed Cyrus DAC X and DAC XP D/A converters, Cyrus moved into a new league for replay of digital sources by offering 192kHz up-sampling, true 192kHz DACs and full differential modes of operation. The CD Xt SE is engineered to complement the DAC XP and other established 'X' series components as a high-end 'digital optimised' CD source

Packed into the stylish, compact chassis of the Cyrus CD Xt SE is a high quality toroidal power transformer. The transformer has two entirely separate secondary windings with one dedicated to feeding the sensitive relocking circuits and the other supplying a completely separate feed to the current hungry motors. In true Cyrus style the PSX-R power supply may also be connected to further refine the power supply system and take over power supply to the motors further improving resolution. Cyrus products have always delivered sonic excellence hand-in-hand with state-of-the-art technical performance. The Cyrus CD Xt SE is no exception and Cyrus are justifiably proud of the measured performance of the 'X' series transport and DAC combination. A Cyrus CD Xt SE partnered with a DAC X or DAC XP will deliver ruler-flat linearity performance, vanishingly low background noise and superb jitter rejection, out-performing most two box players in their class

A natural upgrade path for the Cyrus CD Xt SE owner is the acquisition of an optional PSX-R external DC Power supply. This unique and intelligent component allows the Cyrus CD Xt SE to tap into a massive reserve of highly regulated DC energy source. Providing a completely separate power feed for the high current demands of the mechanism motors, the PSX-R effectively removes the dynamically changing load of the motors from the internal power transformer.

The unique MC-Bus connectivity of the Cyrus CD Xt SE is in keeping with the total system approach of the Cyrus range of products. This facility enhances ergonomic operation of the unit in a system context. Total automation of the test, alignment and calibration of the Cyrus CD Xt SE is facilitated via the MC-Bus during its manufacturing process, eliminating potential human error.

The quality lightweight magnesium die-cast enclosure of the CD Xt SE has a myriad of advantages both electrically and mechanically. The non-resonant nature of the alloy minimises Microphonic effects, while its non-ferrous composition provides an effective shield from external electro-magnetic disturbances. This also eliminates coupling of the power transformer stray magnetic fields to the sensitive audio circuitry.

DENON DVD3800BDCI BLU RAY PLAYER

From: £1595.00

Click here to buy from Hifix or to find out more...

The Denon DVD-3800BDCI supports bit stream output for Blu-ray disc lossless audio formats Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus, as well as for DTS-HD Audio Master and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio. The new Denon DVD-3800BDCI is also capable of 8-channel analogue audio output, the maximum number of audio channels possible with Blu-ray discs. The beautiful sound quality of Denon Blu-ray players can be fully enjoyed even with A/V receivers that do not have an HD audio format decoder

The Denon DVD-3800BDCI inherits various circuits for high picture quality from the high-end DVD-5910CI DVD player that has been widely praised. That circuitry employs an I/P (Interlaced/Progressive) converter - also vital for audio circuitry - and a REALTA scaler that converts the SD video images of DVD to high-definition 1080p images. High conversion performance is made possible by 10-bit processing, and motion detection is dramatically improved as well. Regularity at the pixel level not only for the 3:2 pattern of film sources but also for other patterns is accurately detected at high speed for highly precise I/P conversion. Even when a source contains both Video mode and Film mode material, each mode is accurately detected and processed at high speed, enabling high-quality Progressive playback of a variety of DVD discs. The REALTA also functions as a high-performance scaler that makes 1080p HDMI output possible. 10-bit processing enables high-precision scaling, and the most appropriate conversion for the output resolution is performed even when video signals recorded on a DVD using color difference signals are output in RGB format. As a component dedicated to playback, the sole job of the Denon DVD-3800BDCI is to ensure that A/V enthusiasts can enjoy a rich variety of DVDs in superior picture quality.

The Denon DVD-3800BDCI is endowed with Denon's original D.P.I.C. enhancer technology to perform high-definition video image correction. 10-bit processing is used to detect and correct curved lines with greater precision. The new enhancement processing algorithm considers the effects of peripheral pixels in addition to the target pixels, sampling and analyzing video data of a total of 9 pixels. Pixels in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal directions are detected and processed in detail. Brightness and Colour signals are also processed by the same algorithm which then suppresses ringing noise that easily occurs during enhancement and performs other processes to effectively produce a vivid, natural picture.

Besides the D.P.I.C. functions, picture quality can be adjusted over a wide range of elements including not only Contrast and Sharpness but also White level, Chroma level, Noise Reduction settings, and Gamma

The Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit (D.D.S.C.) - Digital, Denon's high-quality sound reproduction circuit, forms the core of technology designed to realize Denon's ideal of reproducing audio content so that it sounds exactly the way the producer intended it to. The newly-developed D.D.S.C.-HD circuit is a revised version designed to support the latest HD audio formats.

"AL24 Processing Plus" is technology that expands effective PCM signals originally in 16-bit or 20-bit form to 24-bit data for all channels. In the case of the DVD-3800BDCI, the critically-acclaimed "Advanced AL24 Processing," from Denon's "DVD-5910CI", is used in addition to AL24 Processing Plus specifically for 2-channel stereo output. This technology uses a unique Denon-developed algorithm to interpolate up-sampling data along the time axis without losing any original data to produce a more natural sound.

The circuitry has been separated into three independent blocks within the chassis. The video and audio circuits have of course been separated, and to thoroughly eliminate signal degradation caused by interference between circuits, each circuit has been mounted on its own board. In addition, the top cover features a two-layered construction and the chassis bottom is constructed of three layers to protect the circuits from vibration.

The Denon DVD-3800BDCI features a unique drive mechanism that Denon newly developed for use with Blu-ray discs. To further protect the internal disc space from magnetic influences, dust, and external noise, Denon improved its mechanism unit from previous DVD players by adding a shield to the bottom and top of the unit to create an ideal playback environment for the disc. In addition, Denon incorporated its critically-acclaimed Suppress Vibration Hybrid (S.V.H.) loader constructed with a combination of different materials to ensure stable disc rotation and greater accuracy in reading the disc.

The new KEF iQ7SE floorstanding speakers truly reflect KEF's acoustic intelligence taking the performance of this model to new heights. The KEF iQ7SE retain all the wining elements of the original KEF iQ7.

The soft sheen of titanium of the main drivers herald KEF's signature and patented Uni-Q® 'point source' array. Using aerospace technology the tweeter is mounted in the precise acoustic centre of the midrange cone, enabling both to act as a single point source that disperses the sound evenly throughout the room.

Each KEF Uni-Q driver is accompanied by a long throw bass driver of the same size and housed in sleek curved cabinets. Inspired by the latest Reference Series and designed to minimise box colourations from internal acoustic reflections.

Where the new KEF iQ7SE model differs is on the inside, and this is where the engineering excellence of KEF's acoustic engineers has paid off. With over three decades of acoustic modelling, the expertise of KEF's engineers has resulted in the redesign of the internal structure and re-voicing of both. Unlike the previous versions, which only used part of the cabinet volume, the new KEF iQ7SE speakers are configured with the Uni-Q and bass drivers working together to take full advantage of the total cabinet volume. To complement this configuration the crossovers have been completely redesigned and upgraded.

The result, the KEF iQ7SE deliver a sound stage that is both more exciting and entertaining than before, with their extended bass response and greater overall efficiency.

The KEF iQ7SE stand for everything that is KEF, improved dynamics, greater bass agility and more precise timing.

Mission's 790 bookshelf speakers are at the very forefront of acoustic development. An example of excellence in British acoustic engineering, it is a integration of high-tech construction and material science with a styling and grace developed over numerous previous generations.

The Mission 790 bookshelf speakers represent a significant step-forward in enclosure design. The multi-layer cabinet construction utilises 3 different densities of resonant absorbing particle composite. The layers are co-bonded with RF activated resin to provide further isolation of vibration and prevent layer interaction. Each layer and material is tuned to damp different frequencies of cabinet resonance, combining to reduce lateral and longitudinal transmission of vibration significantly throughout the cabinet structure.

The Mission 790 bookshelf speaker uses Viotex which is an extremely fine weave material which is both incredibly light and, when woven into a matrix and impregnated, is also very strong. Capable of moving at incredibly high speeds with minimal inertia, Viotex not only improves the Mission 790 speaker's upper frequency response band limit and improves the detail resolution, making the Mission 790 bookshelf speakers incredibly natural and relaxed in performance.

Granitech is formulated to provide the Mission 790 bookshelf speakers with the best combination of rigidity, damping and acoustic isolation, 'Granitech' is a stone-like material with a granulated structure that breaks up sound-wave energy and provides an ultra-quiet structure. Cabinet coloration and resonance are entirely eliminated leaving only the Mission 790 drivers as providers of acoustic output.

Mission has pioneered the use of inverted driver geometry. By placing the treble unit below the bass or mid-range driver, the length of path so the waves coincide at the listener's head-height is equalized. This principle is known as 'time-alignment'. Some manufacturers use electrical correction to achieve the same effect, but by using IDG, Mission loudspeakers achieve the same objective without disruption to the delicate mid-range frequencies. The result is a very natural and coherent presentation.

All moving coil loudspeakers use some kind of magnet system to produce the movement within the voice-coil. The magnetic field, if unshielded can affect CRT televisions if placed in proximity to the field Mission use an inverted field shielding system and neodymium 'rare-earth' magnets which have a very concentrated flux density over the plane of the axis, but very little leakage towards the side of the magnet (and speaker). All Missions magnetically shielded loudspeakers are ideal for use in close proximity to all television sets or wherever magnetic interference is an issue

The objective of any internal loudspeaker design is to transmit as much of the music as possible to the drivers with the fewest possible components in the way to degrade the signal. By mounting the crossover section directly to the rear of the Mission 790 bookshelf speaker terminals, the signal path is shortened and number of internal connections reduced

The Mission 790 bookshelf speaker's bi-wire terminals are used to allow the bass and high frequency sections of a loudspeaker to be wired independently. Although all bi-wireable loudspeakers are supplied with 'bridging' clips, so that a single wire can be used if desired. Although the maximum benefit of bi-wiring is achieved through using two sets of amplifiers with different channels driving the bass and treble frequencies, there are still significant acoustic advantages to running two sets of cable (or a specialist bi-wire cable) from a single set of amplifier outputs When bi-amping (using two stereo amplifiers) with bi-wire speakers, it is recommended for each amplifier to be driving a bass and treble unit of one speaker, rather than having one amplifier driving both treble units and the other both bass units.

The Mission 79 series uses Viotex fabric, Viotex is an extremely fine weave material which is both incredibly light and, when woven into a matrix and impregnated, is also very strong. Capable of moving at incredibly high speeds with minimal inertia, Viotex not only improves the upper frequency response band limit and improves the detail resolution, it is incredibly natural and relaxed in performance.

Granitech is formulated to provide the best combination of rigidity, damping and acoustic isolation, 'Granitech' is a stone-like material with a granulated structure that breaks up sound-wave energy and provides an ultra-quiet structure. Cabinet coloration and resonance are entirely eliminated leaving only the drivers as providers of acoustic output.

Mission has pioneered the use of inverted driver geometry. By placing the Mission 794 treble unit below the bass or mid-range driver, the length of path so the waves coincide at the listener's head-height is equalised. This principle is known as 'time-alignment'. Some manufacturers use electrical correction to achieve the same effect, but by using IDG, Mission loudspeakers achieve the same objective without disruption to the delicate mid-range frequencies. The result is a very natural and coherent presentation.

The Mission 794 floorstanding speakers use advanced computer modeling to theoretically produce an optimum response and minimum phase shift through each crossover point. This is then refined through critical listening tests and panel evaluation to produce an ideal performance.

The Mission 794 floorstanding speakers audiophile crossovers include components to reduce the effects of driver impedance peaks which would otherwise cause unwanted phase shifts through the crossover region. Crossover components are chosen for their specific audio qualities mounted on custom designed PCBs for minimum interaction and mounted using soft resin to dampen any mechanical interference.

Maintaining a consistent temperature in the 794's treble unit is essential for a consistent performance, even at high volume levels. Heat is generated by current within the voice-coil and this needs to be controlled to avoid compression and even damage to the unit. Mission's new heatsink coupled treble units conduct heat away from the treble unit very effectively, keeping control and maintaining a consistently high standard of dynamic performance.

The Mission 794 floorstanding speakers use ferrofluid, ferrofluid is used in treble drive units to sink heat between the voice-coil and the magnet assembly. They also passively damp the movement of the cone. They reside in what would normally be the air gap around the voice-coil, held in place by the speaker's magnet.

Die-cast chassis are a huge improvement over plastic or even pressed steel units. Because of the manufacturing technique used, they can have a more complex three dimensional shape, hence are much stronger. Because of their higher strength, they can be manufactured with an open frame design. This allows air moving backward from the cone to flow and be absorbed within the cabinet rather than being reflected back through the cone. There is an obvious improvement to mid-range clarity and timing.

The Mission 794 floorstanding speakers use sideways facing drivers, on large floorstanding loudspeakers it is often desirable to use a sideways facing driver. In small rooms, these should be positioned facing inwards to create a taut, controlled bass, free of room gain and boom. In larger rooms they can be switched to face outwards, improving presence and extending the lower frequency response.

Mission has pioneered the use of inverted driver geometry. By placing the Mission 796 treble unit below the bass or mid-range driver, the length of path so the waves coincide at the listener's head-height is equalised. This principle is known as 'time-alignment'. Some manufacturers use electrical correction to achieve the same effect, but by using IDG, Mission loudspeakers achieve the same objective without disruption to the delicate mid-range frequencies. The result is a very natural and coherent presentation.

The Mission 796 floorstanding speakers use advanced computer modeling to theoretically produce an optimum response and minimum phase shift through each crossover point. This is then refined through critical listening tests and panel evaluation to produce an ideal performance.

The Mission 796 floorstanding speakers audiophile crossovers include components to reduce the effects of driver impedance peaks which would otherwise cause unwanted phase shifts through the crossover region. Crossover components are chosen for their specific audio qualities mounted on custom designed PCBs for minimum interaction and mounted using soft resin to dampen any mechanical interference.

Maintaining a consistent temperature in the 796's treble unit is essential for a consistent performance, even at high volume levels. Heat is generated by current within the voice-coil and this needs to be controlled to avoid compression and even damage to the unit. Mission's new heatsink coupled treble units conduct heat away from the treble unit very effectively, keeping control and maintaining a consistently high standard of dynamic performance.

The Mission 796 floorstanding speakers use ferrofluid, ferrofluid is used in treble drive units to sink heat between the voice-coil and the magnet assembly.

The Mission 796 floorstanding speakers use sideways facing drivers, on large floorstanding loudspeakers it is often desirable to use a sideways facing driver. In small rooms, these should be positioned facing inwards to create a taut, controlled bass, free of room gain and boom. In larger rooms they can be switched to face outwards, improving presence and extending the lower frequency response.

MISSION 79C CENTER SPEAKER

From: £349.95

Mission's 79c centre speaker is at the very forefront of acoustic development. An example of excellence in British acoustic engineering, it is a integration of high-tech construction and material science with a styling and grace developed over numerous previous generations.

The Mission 79c centre speaker represents a significant step-forward in enclosure design.

The symmetrical configuration of The Mission 79c centre speaker drivers is used to improve dispersion and to improve imaging, placed equidistant above and below the high-frequency driver, mid-range and bass drivers create an even horizontal dispersion and a controlled dispersion on the vertical plane.

Having the Mission centre speaker's treble unit centrally placed enhances the imaging by mimicking a point-source dispersion. Interference patterns when stereo pair of speakers are used create an almost holographic sense of presence with the listener able to discern the exact location of instruments and voices within the soundstage.

The Mission 79c centre speaker uses Viotex which is an extremely fine weave material which is both incredibly light and, when woven into a matrix and impregnated, is also very strong. Capable of moving at incredibly high speeds with minimal inertia, Viotex not only improves the Mission centre speaker's upper frequency response band limit and improves the detail resolution, making the Mission 79c centre speaker incredibly natural and relaxed in performance.

Granitech is formulated to provide the Mission centre speaker with the best combination of rigidity, damping and acoustic isolation, 'Granitech' is a stone-like material with a granulated structure that breaks up sound-wave energy and provides an ultra-quiet structure. Cabinet coloration and resonance are entirely eliminated.

The Mission 79c centre speaker's bi-wire terminals are used to allow the bass and high frequency sections of a loudspeaker to be wired independently.

MISSION ELAN E3AV SYSTEM £749.00

MISSION ELAN E3 AV SYSTEM

From: £749.00

Click here to buy from Hifix or to find out more...

For the discerning listener who desires sound quality within a system package with a full AV experience. The Mission Elan E3 AV system comes complete with the one pair of E34 Floor standers, one pair of E30 Book case speakers, one E3C centre channel and one E3AS sub woofer.

Fiercely independent, The Mission Elan E3 AV System is a collision of traditional and contemporary design - a modern interpretation of the classic Mission aesthetic. Sensational in its poise and steadfast in its presentation it is, above all else, a genuine expression of a passion for performance.

A range of models has been developed including bookshelf, wall mount, floorstanding, centre channel, subwoofer and surround speakers. Elan is a complete solution for the stereo and the home cinema enthusiast alike. Moreover, it has been engineered to reproduce the very best from any music or surround sound source.

The cabinet construction is shared with the Esprit to ensure a clean, superbly detailed dynamic sound with not only the lowest distortion in its class, but a wide dispersion for a flat in-room frequency response.

On the Mission Elan E3 AV series the Paramid drivers are formed using a sandwich structure. Aramid polymer fibres with incredible tensile strength are sandwiched between two stiffer pulp layers. This creates a cone which is very light and stiff, yet has superb internal damping. The internal damping drastically reduces cone-induced distortion by absorbing the transverse waves that travel through a cone following an impulse.

Bi-wire terminals are used to allow the bass and high frequency sections of a loudspeaker to be wired independently. All bi-wireable loudspeakers are supplied with 'bridging' clips, so that a single wire can be used if desired.

All Mission E3 series speakers use high grade OFC (Oxygen free copper). Copper is an excellent electrical conductor; however, oxygen impurities within the crystalline structure can adversely affect that conductivity. By refining the copper to a much higher grade of purity, electrical conductivity can be improved and hence signal quality.

All speakers are magnetically shielded loudspeakers and are ideal for use in close proximity to all television sets or wherever magnetic interference is an issue.

NAD VISO FIVE DVD//CD SURROUND SOUND RECEIVER

From: £809.95

Click here to buy from Hifix or to find out more...

The NAD VISO FIVE DVD/CD Receiver, NAD now offers the level of performance associated with NAD's highly acclaimed full-size separates in an elegant, compact design. Designed to complement today's advanced video displays, its graceful proportions and fine details make a sophisticated design statement. And unlike most other "all-in-one" systems, this NAD performs like an award winning NAD separate component. We have not made any performance compromises in our quest for convenience and style. By combining the DVD/CD Player and Digital Surround Sound Receiver in one elegant package, one needs only to add the TV monitor and Surround Sound Speaker package to the NAD VISO FIVE to have theatre quality sound in any room of the home. The ability to choose loudspeakers separately, ones that suit your specific needs, should not be underestimated.

The VISO FIVE forms the heart of an advanced Home Cinema. Its compact dimensions (especially depth), makes it ideal for apartment use or the smaller room, yet there is no compromise when it comes to performance. The supplied HTR-7 Remote can operate your TV, VCR, Satellite or Cable Tuner, and almost any other IR remote controlled device. The logical layout and illuminated keys make operating your AV system straightforward and enjoyable, and the HTR-7, with it's ability to learn the remote commands of up to eight different devices, eliminates the clutter of multiple remote handsets.

Unlike the "Home Theatre in a Box" systems that include speakers (usually of questionable quality), the NAD VISO FIVE allows complete freedom to choose speakers that fit your decor and suite your taste in sound. New features for the NAD VISO FIVE include Progressive Scan DVD with HDMI digital video output, simplified setup using the On Screen Display, and the inclusion of the latest surround formats: DVD-Audio (super high resolution audio), Dolby Virtual Speaker (provides a convincing surround effect with only two front speakers), and Dolby Headphone (remarkable "holographic" surround effect from headphones.) As one would expect from NAD, only high quality components have been used, such as high resolution ADCs (Analogue-to-Digital Converter) and DACs (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) from renowned manufacturer Crystal to obtain the best possible performance.

Even though the NAD VISO FIVE DVD Surround Sound Receiver may be far more compact than a separate DVD Player and Receiver of comparable performance, it still is very flexible. Three additional video sources (one front panel accessible - perfect for cameras and game consoles) and a 6 channel audio source can be connected (with the built-in tuner and DVD/CD player that potentially gives you access to six sources) of which two also offer S-Video Video inputs and one a Component Video input. Besides the Monitor output, the VISO FIVE also has an S-Video and Composite output as well. Two digital inputs (one optical, one coaxial) are provided, and, for easy transferring to a CD recorder or other digital recording device, the VISO FIVE also sports an optical digital output. Rather than using spring clips for loudspeaker cable connection, as usually found on compact systems, the VISO FIVE offers high quality loudspeaker binding posts, more associated with top-of-the-range full-size AV receivers. A line-level output for connection to a powered subwoofer is provided as well.

The NAD VISO FIVE will automatically recognise DTS or Dolby Digital and will switch accordingly. Also included is the new high resolution DVD-Audio mode with up 24 bit 196 kHz resolution with full bass management included. Besides these modes, Stereo Enhanced (all channel stereo), ProLogic II, and EARS (an NAD exclusive) are available, all aimed at reproducing 2 channel stereo music in a realistic 5.1 surround mode, creating either a natural ambience, or an all out party sound. In all cases the sound is pure and undistorted, as opposed to those fuzzy "boingy" sound effects with lofty sounding names like "stadium" and "cathedral". RS-232 data port offers connection to highly advanced automated control systems.

Besides superb DVD picture quality in either interlaced or progressive modes, the NAD VISO FIVE also offers a wide range of facilities such as Multi-Angle*; Multi-Sound*; Multi-Subtitle*; Frame; Zoom and Repeat. All these facilities can be easily accessed with the supplied remote control. Through the extensive yet intuitive On-Screen-Display you can change the various settings and parameters for optimum performance.

Designed to complement today's advanced video displays, its elegant proportions and fine details make a sophisticated design statement. And unlike most other "all-in-one" systems, the NAD performs like an award winning NAD separate component. We have not made any performance compromises in our quest for convenience and style.
The Command Centre for an Advanced Audio and Video Sound System
By combining the DVD/CD Player and Stereo Receiver in one elegant package, one needs only to add the TV monitor and Speakers to the NAD VISO TWO to have theatre quality sound in any room of the home. The ability to choose loudspeakers separately, ones that suit your specific needs, should not be underestimated.

The NAD VISO TWO forms the heart of an advanced Home Cinema. Its compact dimensions (especially depth) make it ideal for apartment use or the smaller room, yet there is no compromise when it comes to performance. The supplied HTR-7 Remote can operate your TV, VCR, Satellite or Cable Tuner, and almost any other IR remote controlled device. By concentrating on the most important aspects of the NAD VISO TWO circuitry, the NAD engineers were able to extract remarkable audio and video performance. As usual with NAD, the VISO TWO uses discrete amplifier output stages only. The benefits of this approach have been proven over the years in many acclaimed NAD amplifiers and receivers. (Most products in this category are using digital IC amplifier modules, which allow for a very slim-line design, but cannot meet even the most basic hi-fi specs for noise and distortion.)

As one would expect from NAD, only high quality components have been used, such as high resolution ADCs (Analogue-to-Digital Converter) and DACs (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) from renowned manufacturer Crystal to obtain the best possible performance.

The innovative Onkyo HTX-22HD 2.1-channel digital home cinema system is based around a "one-box" A/V amplifier with built-in subwoofer and comes with two front satellite speakers.

The system has built-in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders that allow it reproduce bit-for-bit high definition surround sound, making the Onkyo HTX-22HD a superb partner for the latest generation Blu-ray and DVD players, gaming consoles and digital television receivers.

Onkyo is also proud to announce that the Onkyo HTX-22HD is also the world's first system to incorporate DTS Surround Sensation. Unveiled at CES 2008 this long-awaited new software algorithm delivers a virtual 5.1 surround sound experience from just two speakers. For dedicated home cinema fans, purchasing an optional, add-on package of centre-speaker and two rear surround speakers can transform the Onkyo HTX-22HD into a fully-fledged 5.1 system - all the necessary speaker terminals are already located at the rear of the main unit. Excellent sound quality and ease of ease were the top priorities for Onkyo during the development of the HTX-22HD. For that reason, the system includes Audyssey 2EQ room calibration to precisely match surround sound to your home. It also includes the new Audyssey Dynamic EQ loudness correction technology - found in Onkyo's new generation standalone AV receivers - for dynamic, detailed surround sound even at low volumes.

Thanks to the inclusion of RIHD (Remote Interactive via HDMI) the user can also integrate and seamlessly operate the system with selected HDMI-equipped playback sources and TVs from other manufacturers

ONKYO TXSR576 7.1 HOME CINEMA RECEIVER

From: £269.00

Click here to buy from Hifix or to find out more...

Thanks to the Onkyo TX-SR576's HDMI platform, this receiver stands out with three masterful high-def advantages: 1) The ability to switch three 1080p video sources; 2) The scope to handle enhanced Dolby Digital Plus encoded audio; and 3) The capability to integrate and operate compatible components from the leading consumer electronics brands. In recognition of the need for home theatre to adapt to spacious living rooms as well as to cosy apartment spaces, the Onkyo TX-SR576 7.1 home cinema receiver features new Audyssey technologies that let you tailor surround sound to your home and ensure an enveloping soundscape, even at low volumes. When it comes to digital music, this receiver draws on Onkyo's own technology to spark life into digital audio files such as MP3s.

With three HDMI inputs, the Onkyo TX-SR576 can receive and switch the latest high-definition components-Blu-ray Disc and upscaling DVD players; Xbox and PlayStation 3 gaming consoles; satellite and cable boxes; and media centres-for a pure, one-cable digital connection to an HDTV. The TX-SR576 is capable of receiving and switching 1080p video, as well as processing multichannel surround sound via an onboard Dolby Digital Plus decoder.

Dolby Digital Plus provides the flexibility and efficiency to deliver more channels of compelling surround sound for high-definition video delivery by cable and direct broadcast satellite (DBS), disc-based media, and online content. The superior coding efficiencies of Dolby Digital Plus enable a high-quality multichannel audio experience without negatively impacting bit budgets allocated for video performance or additional feature sets. The Onkyo TX-SR576's onboard Dolby Digital Plus decoder directly processes any multichannel source encoded in this format It also handles the range of Dolby Digital formats usually found on DVD video.

The Onkyo TX-SR576 7.1 home cinema receiver offers integrated system control with selected HDMI compatible high-definition displays, DVD and hard-disk recorders, and Blu-ray Disc players. With one remote control, you can control several functions, including Standby, Volume Command and Direct Change. RIHD lets you seamlessly integrate the TX-SR576 with other leading brand-name devices including those in the Panasonic VIERA Link, Toshiba CE-Link"", Sharp AQUOS Link and Samsung Anynet+ ranges.

The Onkyo TX-SR576 uses Audyssey 2EQ to counter distortion created by walls, furniture, and other objects. This technology detects speaker distance, and then sets levels, delays, and crossovers, while also measuring room acoustics. Compared to one-position room correction systems, Audyssey 2EQ covers a much wider listening area. Moreover, it corrects problems in both frequency response and time domain (where most of the problems lie) across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious-a clear, well-balanced and natural sound, after 2EQ calibration, Audyssey Dynamic EQ solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality at lower volumes. The professionals who create music and movies do no at reference levels much louder than typical home listening levels. When volume is reduced on a standard home theatre receiver, the bass disappears, voices change, and the surround soundstage becomes less enveloping. As volume is adjusted on the Onkyo TX-SR576, however, Dynamic EQ selects the best possible frequency response and surround levels moment-by-moment, resulting in an ideal listening experience at any volume level.

ONKYO TXSR606 7.1 HOME CINEMA RECEIVER

From: £399.00

As part of the second generation of Onkyo high-definition-capable receivers, the Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 home cinema receiver is at the forefront of affordable home theatre. The key is to have the most capable version of HDMI. The Onkyo TX-SR606 provides high-definition video and audio processing for four source components-another first for Onkyo at this level. From Blu-ray Disc players to gaming consoles and cable/satellite boxes, you have everything in the digital realm covered. Apart from 1080p video, the Onkyo TX-SR606 can upscale all video signals to 1080i, regardless of the connection, for output via HDMI. Onkyo's own RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) also gives you inter-operability with the displays and playback components from other leading brands. And with an expanded version of Audyssey's room correction technology, the TX-SR606 maintains the fullness of surround sound audio quality at low volume levels. The TX-SR606 offers all-round excellence rarely seen at this level.

With the latest HDMI version and advanced A/V processing capabilities, the TX-SR606 is a powerful control centre for all high definition media, including Blu-ray Disc and HD broadcasts. You can connect up to four components via HDMI to receive and switch compatible sources for a pure digital connection to an HDTV. Also, all multichannel audio-from bit-for-bit streams to standard Dolby Digital-can be digitally transported via HDMI for processing by the TX-SR606.This version of HDMI enables CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), greater bandwidth to deal with higher resolutions, 36-bit Deep Colour™, and high frame rates.

The Onkyo TX-SR606 has the decoding technologies-Dolby TrueHD® and DTS-HD® Master Audio-to enable a lossless, bit-for-bit soundtrack that is identical to that of the studio master. Both codec's are designed for the Blu-ray Disc format. The receiver also handles two "lossy" technologies: Dolby® Digital Plus and DTS-HD® High Resolution Audio. Dolby Digital Plus has been designed for high-definition video delivered via disc media, broadcasts and online content. DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, meanwhile, offers a greater bit rate, a higher sampling rate, and more channels than the core DTS technology. The Onkyo TX-SR606's HDMI inputs can receive pristine digital video from HDMI-enabled components for a single-cable output to a display device with an HDMI or DVI connection. 1080p video is processed as it is, but all other signals can be upscaled to 1080i via HDMI. Upscaling takes the video resolution to pure HD quality, and it better matches the native resolution of today's high-definition displays. To further improve performance on high-definition displays, the TX-SR606 features a deinterlacing chip with Faroudja DCDi Edge technology, which effectively eliminates video artifacts.

Courtesy of HDMI 1.3a, the Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 home cinema receiver offers integrated system control with selected HDMI-compatible high-definition displays, DVD and hard disk recorders, and Blu-ray Disc players. With one remote control, you can control several functions, including Standby, Volume Command and Direct Change. RIHD lets you seamlessly integrate the Onkyo TX-SR606 with other leading brand-name devices, including those in the Panasonic VIERA Link™, Toshiba CE-Link™, Sharp AQUOS Link, and Samsung Anynet+ ranges.
