The Rega Planar 3 Turntable is the ultimate entry-level audiophile turntable. It is the culmination of years of research and development into creating a product that will appeal to both beginners and seasoned vinyl enthusiasts alike. The turntable has received numerous awards and accolades from the audio industry and is considered by many to be one of the best turntables available at its price point. The Planar 3 is a turntable that uses a manual belt-drive system and the Rega RB330 tonearm plus a choice of cartridge. It’s extremely easy to use and set up, so if you want to get back into vinyl but don’t have much experience with turntables, this could be a great place to start.
The Rega RB330 tonearm features a low-friction pivot bearing and low-tracking force design. It uses a damped cueing device that allows you to raise and lower the tonearm very smoothly, reducing any unwanted noise or vibrations from the arm itself. The new RB300 tonearm is made from high purity, low density alloy billet featuring a through-hole design which reduces unwanted resonances even further. The arm tube itself is made from carbon composite with glass-reinforced plastic end blocks for maximum rigidity with minimum mass.

The Standard Rega Planar 3 turntable is supplied without a cartridge, the next version the Rega Planar 3 including Rega Nd3 Cartridge. The Nd3 has been designed to offer improved performance over its predecessor whilst maintaining compatibility with the existing Rega turntable range. The new Nd3 cartridge uses a diamond tipped elliptical stylus and a new type of magnet system which provides increased efficiency and better channel separation. The main features of the Rega Nd3 MM cartridge include: Elliptical diamond stylus for high frequency response and channel separation.

The final version of the Rega Planar 3 is fitted with Rega’s Nd5 MM Cartridge. This a high-performance moving magnet design that delivers exceptional detail and musicality. The Nd5 uses a boron cantilever, which helps to keep the cartridge lightweight while improving tracking ability. The Nd5 features a nude elliptical stylus, which is designed to accurately track both groove modulations and record surface imperfections. The Rega Nd5 MM cartridge is designed for high quality playback. It features a nude elliptical diamond stylus and a nude Shibata cut shank. This cartridge has a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz and an output voltage of 0.3 mV at 5 cm/sec. The vertical tracking force is 1.7 grams and the recommended loading impedance is 47 kilo-ohm.
