Replacing a multi award winning What Hi-Fi? Product of the Year (RP3) was never going to be a simple move. Two years of the creative efforts of our team of designers led by Rega’s Roy Gandy, ‘Planar 3’ was the result of the largest re-design of the legendary ‘Three’ model in the company’s history.
The ‘Planar 3’ is an entirely new turntable, keeping only two components from the previous RP model.
Outstanding Sound Reproduction
Rega has been at the forefront of developing lightweight rigid plinths. The clever combination of a lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin laid the foundation. For an exceptional level of performance achieved by the now legendary original Planar range.
Designed to Reduce Unwanted Resonance
Such a rigid plinth design prevents energy from being absorbed and unwanted resonance. Which is the main culprit of adding unnatural distortions to the music. Furthermore, a heavier mass can transfer more undesired energy, e.g. motor or bearing noise, directly into the rotating record.
Using braces instead of the complete skin makes it possible to have double thickness of phenolic resin in these key areas while at the same time. The plinth weight is further reduced which directly addresses the problem of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

Its hand-built arms consist of an anti-resonant / high-mass tungsten bearing assembly and a completely upgraded three-point mounting system. The factory-fitted Rega Nd3 provides excellent clarity and musicality.
Developed using 3D CAD & CAM technology and over 35 years of tonearm expertise, the RB330 features a redesigned bearing housing, intelligent mass redistribution, and ultra-low friction precision bearings.
