Rega RB880 Tonearm

Hub bearing assembly
Planar 8 implements a new light weight central bearing assembly. Underneath the custom brass housing comes the spindle. Which is a single piece machined aluminium sub-platter and hardened tool steel spindle.
Super flywheel effect triple layer glass platter
Planar 8 laminated glass platter is a three piece collaboration with a British glass engineering company. The new platter is made of two different high-quality Pilkington glasses. As a rule of thumb, the only component of a turntable that needs additional mass is the turntable platter to enable it to reach a constant rotational speed.
On the other hand, a heavier platter gets the main bearing design more and more problem. Therefore, the great results are the best compromise solutions. But at the same time not to sacrifice the stiffness of the inside of the platter. Hence, keeping it as light as possible.
