12th Generation Uni-Q Driver Array
All seven members of the R Series boast a custom 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with MAT that produces an incredibly detailed performance. This is a detailed recording of internal knowledge supported by research and a variety of experiments carried out with the help of sophisticated simulation and analysis tools. In order to capitalize on the performance enhancements that MAT brings. The Uni-Q driver array underwent a full redesign. This is why we designed a special conical waveguide connecting the tweeter dome to the new metamaterial absorber based on its depth. The new tweeter gap damper incorporates strategically two rings of porous material to effectively suppress the resonances and faults which dramatically improves detail and clarity.

KEF and Acoustic Metamaterials Group collaborated to create MAT. A type of acoustic labyrinth that can absorb up to 99% of unwanted high-frequency sound energy. Positioned right behind the tweeter, MAT gets rid of rearward reflections that usually result in distortion. 125mm Aluminum Midrange Driver
The R5 Meta is equipped with a 25mm aluminum dome tweeter and a 125mm aluminum midrange driver housed in the Uni-Q array. Along with two 130mm hybrid aluminum bass drivers. Working in harmony, they deliver a pristine, lively sound over a broad spectrum of frequencies, reaching as high as 28kHz. The R5 Meta ensures great headroom and remains composed even at the highest volumes.
