The new Sonos One blends the excellence in sound quality that Sonos has become known for with new Amazon Alexa functionality. Alexa is an intuitive personal assistant developed by Amazon. First seen in the Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Dot, Alexa has now been integrated into a wide range of new devices. With the Sonos One, Alexa now enables hands-free control over your music and calls, and even responds efficiently to voice commands. Play your favourite music through several online music streaming services (a full list of which can be found in the specifications tab) without the need to select the track on your phone or other device, and even allocate which speaker you’d like to hear it from, simply by asking Alexa to do it. All you need to do is sit back and relax.

Alexa will not only provide you with a seamless listening experience, she will also make your everyday life that much easier. Providing news updates, traffic updates and managing smart devices, Alexa will take the worry and hassle out of common activities and allow you to spend more time relaxing.

Alexa will respond to your voice with a dedicated “wake-up” word, meaning you won’t even need to press a button to wake the AI assistant up. Accessibility is at its best with this outstanding new feature. And, as Sonos are continually making improvements to their features, services and skills, frequent updates will ensure your Sonos One’s music and voice control options will only get better and better.

Multi-Room Technology

Multi-room technology with the Sonos One will allow you to play all of your favourite music throughout your entire home. Simply connect your Sonos One wirelessly to any compatible Sonos speaker in additional rooms and expand your home sound system with absolute ease. Whether it’s a party you are having, or simply relaxing at home, multi-room technology will allow you to choose between a single song, or several songs each played through different speakers.

Design and Performance

Built with a custom six-microphone array, the Sonos One will hear you no matter where you are in the room, regardless of how loud your music is playing. Smart voice capture and noise cancellation works to ensure that your voice is heard, allowing Alexa to work her magic without affecting your listening experience.

The Sonos One follows the same blueprint previously laid down by the Sonos PLAY:1, delivering an impressive and mighty sound from deceptively small drivers. The Sonos One uses a pair of Class-D amplifier and custom-built drivers, all of which have been finely tuned to match the One’s unquie acoustic architecture.

Pairing two Sonos One speakers will create the perfect instant stereo sound. Adding a Sonos SUB will add deeper bass, and pairing with the Sonos PlayBar or PlayBase will help to create an outstanding and impressive home cinema surround sound system.

Touch Sensitive Control

Controlling this wireless speaker has been made all the more simple with the addition of Alexa voice commands, but for those who still prefer the more conventional methods of control, the One has been fitted with touch sensitive, illuminated buttons. These buttons will allow you to turn the volume up with a tap and skip a track with a swipe, all whilst remaining sleek and stylish. Tapping mute will mute the microphone, ensuring complete privacy.

Sonos Control App

The Sonos Control App, a free app designed for Apple and Android devices, will allow you to choose what to play, where to play it and at what volume, all with the touch of your fingertip. Access online music streaming and search for a track across every single service, or simply create your own personal playlists; the Sonos Control App will make light work of it.

Navigation is simple, with a home bar at the bottom of the screen suggesting the most helpful tools. This will allow you to move between functions with an ease that quickly becomes second nature. Room control has also been made simple, with the ability to find and select what track is playing in what room. Simply tapping the room name on the drawer will move or change the music. Toggling the “Everywhere” button on will fill your entire home with music.

The app is available for free and can be downloaded onto all compatible devices via the Apple AppStore, Google Play and the Amazon App Store. For use on a desktop or laptop, the app is compatible on both Apple Macs and Windows PCs.
