Rega Saturn R CD/DAC Player
The Saturn-R uses Rega’s DAC and output amplifier technology, joined with a pair of Wolfson WM8742 digital to analogue converter ICs. The DAC USB input is improved with asynchronous operation, working at sample rates from 44.1 up to 192 kHz, and up to 24-bit resolution. The USB employs dedicated drivers in the computer for full ASIO operation, keeping signal quality high, without degradation. The USB also uses the same galvanic isolation as the Rega DAC-R.
The Saturn-R CD player uses a high stability master clock in the CD circuitry, with high capacity power supply and high performance PLL digital interface receiver. Isolated digital inputs combine with high performance power to supply architecture in the DAC circuitry. Signal switching between the CD player and the DAC features are done in the digital to analogue converter stage, whilst the signal paths in all the CD circuits are kept short for optimum performance.
The Saturn-R comes with a variety of inputs and outputs for the best connectivity to any system. Two optical inputs and two coaxial inputs are provided for digital input signals, as well as the USB port, while separate optical and coaxial outputs are provided for the CD player and DAC components of the Saturn-R, in addition to stereo phono outs.
