Virtually Frictionless Movement
Rega has always been a legendary brand when it comes to tonearm designs. A very special feature of these designs is that they manage to achieve virtually frictionless movement both horizontally and vertically. While at the same time there is no measurable free play in the bearing assemblies.
Further a new low mass and precision engineered vertical bearing assembly has been developed to complement the fundamental design philosophy of the Planar 8 turntable. The Rega RB880 Turntable Tonearm employs the most recent Rega arm tube. The arm tube has been completely redesigned so as to redistribute mass and thereby reduce stresses and resonances even further.
High Tech Engineering
The newer design tube is high-tech as per engineering standards and it improves stiffness and rigidity of the whole assembly. The designers used CAD to help smoothly blend the several different taper variations.
On the outside, we have installed a custom-made Rega designed low capacitance phono cable. Which is equipped with an advanced phono plug assembly.
This is a plug with minimal parts – just two. To keep it as close to the signal source as possible. And the plug to the terminal is locked by a twist and clamp design. This innovation greatly enhances connectivity and keeps the signal path as clean and direct as possible.
