We have used the exclusive hand-wound micro coil that is a characteristic of the entire MC range. The Rega Ania Pro is in a PPS extremely rigid body, which ensures precise manufacture. This, also follows Rega’s three-point fixation method that provides an optimum connection to the head-shell and automatically sets the overhang.

Super High Powered Neodymium

The new casing is sealed by a CAD-specified, red rigid cover to protect the internal fine wires. Thus making handling during fitting safe and risk-free. The Ania Pro comprises a super high-powered neodymium magnet and a coil that has been meticulously hand-wound onto an iron micro cross.

​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌When we set our minds to manufacturing a Moving Coil cartridge at half the Apheta 2. Hence the answer was in an uncommon polymer/glass combination called Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS-Fortron).

Then it was a new challenge. Rega did most of the work with the design and created a prototype using SLA systems within just a few months. Thus proving that the design direction is valid.

Then we needed to come up with a production mould tool that can be extremely accurate and have a long life. Since PPS is a tough polymer, its moulding needs special attention to how the mould tool functions. Besides this, for the Ania body, an almost non-mouldable complex shape. Plus, the very considerable challenge to the Rega engineers and the toolmakers chosen.

Extremly Hig Skill Level

The toolmakers have the highest technical skill level. Using the most accurate Swiss EDM CNC machines, their regular customers being the military and medical industries. Routinely working down to a micron (one thousandth of a millimetre). To reproduce this intricate body shape demanded the most complex high-pressure injection mould tool that Rega has ever come up with.
