The Aethos stereo amplifier is enclosed in a new, specially created housing. By using four 160 W 16 Amp output transistors per channel. This produces 156 W per channel into 6 Ω. The Aethos is a dual mono configuration which features a specially wound toroidal transformer and regulated supplies for the sensitive amplification as well as the driver stages.
Rega Aethos Amplifier
The pre-amplifier stage is fitted entirely with class-A discrete circuitry. The Aethos is a completely uncompromising product with a single objective. To present your music to you as accurately as possible.
Design Innovation
Rega have spent a considerable amount of time, effort and money in the development of the circuit and construction. Using high quality components all the way through. In our design, we also included handy features such as the switchable direct input and preamplifier output. Which give the new Aethos amplifier the flexibility to fit into almost any kind of system.
125 Watt Dual Mono Design
Rega took the design concepts underlying the multi-award-winning and very successful Elex-R and Elicit-R and raised the performance level to the next one and beyond with a 125watt dual mono design featuring a fully discrete FET based line amplifier, polypropylene capacitors throughout the signal path, K-Power reservoir capacitors, power amplifier regulated supply and a high current output stage consisting of four 160w Sanken output transistors per channel
Features and Benefits
- High Power Output: Still, the amp is pulling almost a third of the power from the supply. At a 6 ohm load it gives out 156 watts and 8 ohms 125 watts for each channel, additionally the configuration is 8 ohms.
- Pure Analogue Signal Path: When the sound treatment is properly done to the uncoloured it is excellent. You get a very clean and natural sound.
- Dual Mono Design: Besides. Channel separation is very good. With outstanding sound reproduction.
- Top-Notch Components: Their purchasing means achieving the highest performance. In addition, they lead to the durability of the devices.
- Five Line Inputs: This amplifier is very versatile and capable of being used in different ways. It is even able to handle a number of inputs.
Summary of the Rega Aethos Amplifier
Rega Aethos Amplifier is a great sound engineering master piece which caters the taste of those listeners who love only music and don’t care about the trendy technology gadgets on the market. Raw power delivery and direct analogue signal path. Are the functions of the only device the Aethos that applies these settings.
The most genuine and exciting acoustics the unit can deliver to the listener are the basic features of the device.
An Audio Masterpiece
The Aethos power amplifier is a new version with more power that came from the power amplifier used in the Elicit-R and Elex-R. The output amplifier in the Aethos was the result of our engineers’ extensive research to create a low source impedance emitter follower Class-A driver stage.
160 Wats Per Channel
It uses two complementary pairs of Sanken 160w Darlington output transistors. The use of low impedance drivers has always been recognized as a technical and sonic improvement. By combining the low impedance driver with the Sanken Darlington transistors. Which have a built-in thermal bias network running at a lower standing current.
This combination makes a complementary emitter follower that emulates Class-A conditions with good thermal stability and lower standing currents in the driver stage.
Because of the characteristics of the Rega power amplifier circuit. It is possible to run two entire output stages in parallel. Which includes the output transistors, bias network, and pre diver transistor. This being a change from merely paralleling the output transistors as normally found. This guarantees the 125 watt output without any trouble.
