The Quad ESL-2912 Electrostatic Speakers was first proposed in 2019 during a very intensive review of the QUAD Electrostatic manufacturing facility. A production line dedicated only to the manufacturing of QUAD ESL loudspeakers.

The ESL 2912X is the top of the line from the QUAD electrostatic category. The six-panel design has been expanded to increase the radiation area. Thus the speaker is capable of delivering higher sound pressure levels, better dynamics and extension. The ESL 2912X rejuvenates your music with bass depths and the richness of the texture of every instrument giving you the feeling of a live concert.
Besides the increased bass level. The improved sound texture and the broadened stage. The ESL 2912X has also been outfitted with the capability of a greater dynamic range. More headroom and a bigger soundstage. The ESL was the first electrostatic speaker with a full range and ultra low distortion. Setting a worldwide precedent for accuracy and fidelity in loudspeakers that persists to this day.

Quad’s Heritage
Years of work in the speaker industry have resulted in the ESL-2912. A model that retains Quad’s heritage while enriched by modern technology. The ESL-2912 is the second model in the ESL range. It employs six electrostatic panels, the inner two utilising the concentric rings of anodes used to create the point source image.
Whilst all electrodes receive the same music signal. Each electrode area reacts slightly differently. Such that treble frequencies appear to come from the centre of the speaker.

Highlights of the Quad ESL-2912 Electrostatic Speakers
The mechanical components that make up the speakers have been upgraded to newer versions. To cover the elements, a different net cloth has been chosen. Which leads to improved audio transparency and also enhances the appearance of the speakers.
The underlying grille support has revised strengthening ribs to reduce the possibility of resonance. As well as to ensure the grille cloth remains under tension without stretch marks.
To distinguish the 2812 and 2912 from their predecessors, there are cosmetic changes too. These changes improve the look of the speakers in domestic surroundings. As well as the new grille cloth. There are matching piano lacquered veneered panels on the top of the speakers and the sides of the base formed from high density plywood to further damp frame resonances.
