Therefore, in order to satisfy the demand of customers wanting a ribbon tweeter. ProAc decided to redesign the D18. The new version has an upgraded cabinet with a new bass loading, a new crossover network. Plus, the ProAc ribbon tweeter which is already used in the other ProAc models.

The name of this upgraded version is D20R, and due to the marked changes. The sound quality has been raised to a completely new level in all aspects. The improvements include a new cabinet with bass loading which is the same as the one used in D30 and D40 models, a new crossover network and, a ProAc ribbon tweeter as used in D30, D40 and K6.
The outcome is an incredibly open and spacious midrange with a deep bass, while the ProAc ribbon tweeter produces high frequencies that are both sweet and detailed. Plus a large sound stage is also an extra benefit.
