Mission’s LX 2 MKII is a compact bookshelf speaker. It is a direct replacement for the older MK1 version and incorporates some of the new technologies from Mission’s QX range and the highly successful, multi award-winning ZX range. it’s a bit bigger than the LX1 MkII but perfect if you want a little more power while still keeping the budget low.
Mission LX-2 MKII Bookshelf Speakers
High-frequency drive units must be made with super precise parts and methods if they are to be chosen for a Mission speaker. Since the moving masses are so tiny. Just one micro-drop of high-tech adhesive can upset the balance of the design. Thereby changing sensitivity and frequency response.
For the LX MkII Series Mission has gone to great lengths to engineer a tweeter with a neodymium magnet. Chosen for maximum magnetic force in a minimum space, and a 25mm microfibre dome. Selected for its lightness and uniformity in manufacture. It produces very nicely the top notes. Crisp and detailed with a strong transient attack.
Inverted Driver Geometry
Mission’s traditional IDG (Inverted Driver Geometry) speaker design locates the high frequency unit under the bass / midrange driver so that the length of the path is equalised and the sound waves meet at the listener’s ear level. A private principle that enhances ‘time alignment’ and hence transient response in Mission speakers.
What sets the LX2-MKII apart from its predecessor is the addition of advanced driver surrounds and crossover technology from the very successful QX and the high-end ZX ranges. The use of ‘comb-tooth’ serrations in the driver surrounds reduces disturbing reflections from local surfaces to the mid/bass cones.
Enhanced Clarity
The advancement of Mission’s premium QX speakers certainly highlighted the use of ‘comb-tooth’ serrations in the driver surrounds as a key feature.. Which help disperse interfering reflections coming from localised surfaces to the bass/mid cones.
The LX MkII Series comes with a main driver surround having the same type of serrations. Along with indentations around the tweeter. Which further enhances the drive unit outputs and results in a smoother frequency response than that of the previous generation LX speakers.
Features and Benefits
- Realistic Sound Experience: Experience music and movies the way you have never done before. The individual components of the unit produce sound that is incredibly natural and surrounding.
- Space-Saving Small Size Design: Make the most of your space without giving up on audio quality. Perfect for small rooms.
- Solid Cabinet Build: Mission LX-2 cabinet is constructed from solid materials. That make the vibration at the minimum.
- Balanced Driver Configuration: The drivers largely balance output across all the frequencies. Ensuring a constant supply of energy.
Summary of the Mission LX-2 MKII Bookshelf Speakers
The Mission LX-2 MKII Speakers’ most outstanding innovation is the advanced driver surrounds and crossover technology. The ‘comb tooth’ serrations in the driver surround scatter any interfering reflections from the local surfaces and the mid/bass cones. With the Mission LX-2 MKII, similar serrations in the main driver surrounds and indentations around the tweeter added more elegance to the drive unit outputs.
Choice of Finishes
The Mission LX-2 MKII Bookshelf Speakers are available in Walnut Pearl, Black, and White. Mission preferred these to preserve its style of blending Hi-Fi heritage with innovative designs.
