We took a similar step in cutting down the mass along the lines of the Kandid, so Krystal has a ‘nude’ design. The lowering of the inertia of the cartridge means Krystal can very quickly follow the contours of a vinyl record. The triple-point mounting system for Krystal is used for a firm connection to the tonearm headshell.
While the aluminium chassis makes for a light, stiff and stable base for the generator. Even the glue chosen for Krystal was carefully picked to give the most rigid possible bond to avoid any dampening effects.

Machining Using 7075 Aluminium Grade
The Krystal shell is precisely made by CNC machining using 7075 aluminium grade. The same aerospace alloy that is used in the whole Linn cartridge range. Having a machined housing offers a very firm and well managed resonance base for the generator.
At the same time, the weight has been adjusted to 7.0 g, which will keep the cartridge within the normal range for Linn arms employed at Majik and Selekt levels.
Stylus is a Fine Line Type
The cantilever is made from an aluminium tube. Not only lighter but also less expensive to manufacture than boron. However, it still represents a great increase in stiffness over plastic cantilevers used in budget moving coil designs. The stylus is a fine-line type that is one level above elliptical. It has a greater groove tracing ability and also provides more high frequency detail.
