The Leak Sandwich 100 Bookshelf Speakers incorporates a 30mm textile-dome tweeter and a mid/bass driver with a 170mm Aluminium-Foamcore Sandwich cone, while the Sandwich 250 combines the same tweeter with 280mm bass and 108mm midrange drivers. Both of which feature Aluminium-Foamcore Sandwich cones.

The treble unit includes a damped rear chamber to absorb the output from the back of the 30mm dome. Isolating it from the rest of the loudspeaker and reducing its resonant frequency to below the crossover region. Sandwich Construction
In these new speakers, the driver cones are not the only things that receive a sandwich construction treatment. The cabinet walls consist of an outer layer of MDF and an inner layer of high-density particle board. The varying densities of these materials aid in scattering panel resonances.
The layers are glued together using a special type of glue that not only bonds the layers but also has damping properties for resonances. It is used along with very targeted spot-bracing and a particular front-rear brace modeled after the original design.
Extended Bass Response
On the back of the cabinets there are two ports that help the speakers to improve the bass response. A very precisely flared shape of the ports together with the cabinet allows very effective air pressure equalisation and this results in bass which is not only very deep. But also crystal clear and the port noise (‘chuffing’) is completely eliminated.
Inside the cabinet, high quality damping material is used to remove cavity resonance. Also to extend the bass response and at the same time it converts internal air pressure changes from adiabatic to isothermal.
