Goldring G1006 Moving Magnet Cartridge is an absolute gem. This hand-assembled cartridge is equipped with an elliptical stylus. The shape of the stylus allows it to follow the record grooves containing the highest frequencies more accurately. Which is why it has an advantage over regular spherical types.

In addition, the stylus is mounted on a light shank. Which results in the tip of the stylus having a lower mass compared to cheaper metal bonded types. Therefore the cartridge has a better transient response.
Low Mass Pocan® Body
The 1000 series is constructed from a strong single piece body which firmly secures the fixed parts. The body is manufactured from an ultra-rigid type of glass reinforced polyester known as Pocan and it can be tightly fastened to the head shell in order to yield maximum efficiency and best sound quality.
The stylus carrier which is replaceable by the user fits snugly into the body and a locating pin keeps it in position so that no vibrations capable of colouring the sound occur. An integral mu-metal can protects the generator parts from stray magnetic fields causing hum.
Since Pocan offers a high strength-to-mass ratio. The G1000 series cartridges have a total mass of less than 6.5 g. Low mass and moderate compliance ensure that the natural arm/cartridge resonance remains within safe limits so that it can be easily matched with a wide range of tonearms.
High Efficiency Magnetic Circuit
Two formerless coils of four thousand turns each are fitted around the pole pieces which are laminated from finely etched mu-metal. This innovative design not only reduces the mass. But also results in a very efficient magnetic circuit that yields a higher than average output. In addition, this construction alleviates the loss of high frequencies which is a drawback of conventional designs. Thereby providing a smooth and extended frequency response.
Reduced Moving Mass
A unique ultra-low-mass micro-miniature Alnico V magnet that has been manufactured to a tolerance level that is unachievable by any other manufacturer worldwide is used in the 1000 series. A gold plated nickel tie-bar is welded to the magnet and it serves as an earth path for the vinyl static charge build-up as well as it stabilizes the cantilever in unwanted vibrational modes.
The entire ultra-low-mass assembly is subsequently encapsulated in a special butyl rubber polymer exhibiting optimized damping characteristics.

Summary of the Goldring G1006 Moving Magnet Cartridge
The Goldring G1006 Moving Magnet Cartridge uses a unique ultra-low-mass, micro-miniature Alnico V magnet made to a tolerance that no other manufacturer worldwide can achieve. Welded to the magnet is a gold-plated nickel tie-bar, which provides an earth path for vinyl static charge buildup and stabilises the cantilever in unwanted vibrational modes. The ultra-low-mass assembly is mounted in a unique rubber polymer with optimised damping characteristics.
Expert Adjustment
The most important factor in good sound is the fixing of the azimuth or horizontal tracking angle. Azimuth is a term that represents the stylus’s central position in a record and also the angle of the stylus on the surface. Fine adjustment of this angle with respect to the record groove is desirable.
