The Chord Rumour X Speaker Cable Per Metre, through the original Rumour which was Chord’s second attempt at a speaker cable after the Myth and Legend copper and polyethylene flat cables in single and bi-wire configurations. This new version of Rumour has been carefully developed to produce even better sound quality in many systems.
Chord Rumour X Speaker Cable Per Metre
Chord explored silver-plated conductor speaker cables with PTFE insulation, along with twisted pair conductor configurations instead of heavy gauge parallel conductors which were typical for speaker cables.
They managed to reduce the noise floor of the system by twisting the conductors together. Thus arrived at an ideal twist ratio which the cable design was based on.
When introducing Chord Rumour in 1996. It was one of the smallest speaker cables on the market (16 AWG). It delivered much grander sound than its size and appearance, was highly detailed and dynamic, and in terms of coherence, it was probably at the top along with other cables.
XLPE Insulated Conductor
Two pairs of silver-plated conductors. Each insulated with XLPE, are arranged in a twist configuration. The XLPE insulated conductors are secured and their vibrations are absorbed by the outer jacket. The usage of silver-plated copper brings the sound to a more musical balance. When combined with the XLPE insulation, to a more lifelike presentation.
Exellent Sound Reproduction
Rumour X delivers clear full-range definition, excellent dynamics, and, after being run in, a very neutral tonal quality. Designed as a cable with the performance of an extremely high-end speaker cable. Rumour X, however, measures only 5 mm in diameter. Thus turning the simple Rumour X a very discreet cable that can still get real performance out of the music.
Features and Benifits
- Excellent Sound Quality: The most faithful and clearest sound is guaranteed. As close as possible to the original recording.
- Minimal Interference: It diminishes the noise and disturbance. Thus assuring an impeccable audio signal.
- Good Conductivity: Ohmic plugs are excellent conductors of the electric current which makes signal transmission easy. Hence the sounds generated are of decent quality.
- Durable Construction: The use of high-strength materials. It ensures that the cables will not get damaged even if they are constantly used.
Summary of Chord Rumour X Speaker Cable Per Metre
One of the earlier versions of the Rumour speaker cables came with PTFE insulation (which is the technical name for Teflon). Up to the point when Taylon was introduced, this was our “go to” material. PTFE, although costly, provided the best performance. Material technology evolves and improves, and nowadays, there are alternatives to PTFE.
Outstanding Build Quaility
Despite the fact that the high cost of Taylon is a limiting factor in the use of the whole range. A certain family of insulation materials called XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) was discovered to be a good alternative.
One particular type of this material, after being tested for listening. It was found to be significantly better than the PTFE in Rumour speaker cable. Currently, it goes by the name of Rumour X.
