Like our entire lineup of MM cartridges, this new revision is very close in form and function to the cutter head that was actually used for engraving the vinyl master. It has two magnets arranged in the positions that correspond to the stereo record groove channels. Which results in very good channel separation and wide frequency response.
However, the new VMx line also comes with changes in materials and designs that allow the sound to be more precisely tuned. Giving playback that is more responsive and especially able to follow the changes in music expression.
Centre shield Plate Reduces Crosstalk
A permalloy centre shield plate enables the effective separation of left and right channels. Suppressing electrical crosstalk to below 40dB. This is similar to the actual crosstalk value found in the grooves of the record itself.
Simple to Fit and Use
All the AT-VMx cartridge bodies are fitted with threaded inserts, allowing for a very simple mounting of a headshell with only two screws needed – as opposed to nuts! The redesigned stylus guard is now V-cut, which helps to easily see the stylus when lowering it onto a record.
