-JVC DLAX90 4K 3D Projector
The JVC DLA-X90R 3D Projector is the world's first HD up converting home theatre projector that displays 2D HD content with full 4K precision. They feature JVC's new e-shift technology capable of projecting images with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, four times that of full HD. The up converting technology is available in two of three new 3D-ready projectors that boast a wide range of advancements, including higher native contrast than previous models for levels that remain unmatched by any other home theatre projector.
The DLA-X90R 3D Projector features JVC's 4K e-shift technology is featured in the top two models, while all three new projectors offer other advancements that boost picture quality, improve 3D performance and enhance functionality.
The JVC X90 has a native contrast ratio of 120,000:1 which is extremely high when compared to the native contrast ratio of other competitors. The key here is to look at native contrast ratios and not the outlandish contrast ratios quoted by some manufactures that use a dynamic iris to improve black levels and contrast ratios. The JVC X90 like its predecessors is able to provide incredible black levels with accurate rich and deep colours.
Similar to the JVC X70, the JVC X90 is not a 4K projector in the sense that the native resolution on the chip-set is not 4K and it is still 1080p, nor is the JVC X90 capable of displaying 4K content. The 4K upscaling on the JVC X90 is also not a digital interpolation system where pixels are digitally duplicated to achieve a higher resolution. JVC uses an e-shift system which in fact an optical element which goes between the lens and the D-ILA chip-set which in a sense optically replicates pixels to increase their numbers and the resolution to 4K (there is also some digital correction used), this allows the JVC X90 to display existing 1080p at 4K resolution adding more detail and depth to the image. It is also worth noting that this is not a controllable function on the JVC X90 and there are no options to switch it on or off.
In addition, the top two models - the JVC DLA-X90R and DLA-X70R - have been designed to achieve THX® 3D Display certification and in the process of being tested by THX. During the THX 3D certification process, more than 400 laboratory tests are conducted, evaluating colour accuracy, crosstalk, viewing angles and video processing to ensure the superior out-of-the-box 3D and 2D display performance that home theatre enthusiasts demand
