Hi Fi Headphones and Accessory Guide.

There's nothing like a great pair of headphones to help you escape the world. Since the incredible growth in popularity of portable media players at the turn of the century, headphones have become a vital purchase for music lovers across the globe. Hifix stock many top brands including Sennheiser, Grado, Denon, Bowers and Wilkins all world famous for their engineering and excellent sound quality.

Types Of Headphones

There are two main types of headphones that consumers have to choose between - in-ear or over-the-ear. Both have a series of significant advantages over each over, so the choice usually comes down to individuals' specific needs.

Over-the-ear headphones have made a dramatic comeback in the style stakes, though. Until a couple of years ago, it seemed that the MP3 revolution had left traditional cans resigned to the studio environment. However, we are now seeing more and more music fans enjoying these larger accessories on the streets.

Headphone Quality

Pound for pound, over-the-ear headphones generally produce better sound quality. This is mostly because designers of over-the-ear headphones can fit better technology inside their cans, allowing for heavier bass, purer highs and deeper lows. They are a lot bigger and heavier though, which is not ideal for the more active listener. There is no clear winner when comparing these two types of headphones. The choice often comes down to where and when people plan to listen to their music.

It's almost inevitable that your headphones will experience a degree of wear and tear. The wires will get tangled, tugged or caught, which can eventually damage the quality of the sound being transmitted. With this in mind, it's worth checking how durable your headphones' wires are. It might even be worth investigating Bluetooth-enabled wireless headphones.
