Design and Technology

The Dali Alteco C-1s are a pair of multi-positional speakers that are multi-purpose in both their design and their function, as Dali’s goal was to achieve a pair of speakers that work both as a pair of height speakers and a pair of traditional stereo speakers. To do this, the design team at Dali have created a crossover for stereo use, and has made sure to stick with traditional Dali sound design principles, allowing them to create a pair of speakers that fulfils both criteria. These speakers are the perfect solution for anyone who is looking to add height information to a surround sound speaker setup, or simply looking to create an out-of-the-way stereo speaker setup.

Delivering outstanding height information that remains believable, the Dali Alteco C-1 Multi-Positional Speakers will support Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, and Auro-3D enabled movies in a surround setup. When firing up using the ceiling as a reflector, but also when firing down from a position up and under the ceiling, these speakers will deliver the complete surround sound experience, no matter how they are positioned. All of this has been made possible without the need for special equalising in order to enhance the effects from head related transfer function technology – a technology that can be found in Dolby Atmos certifies speakers. Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Dolby Atmos will open up a whole new dimension in sound, transporting you into your movies with moving audio that will flow all around you, providing unprecedented realism. Dolby Atmos will allow you to enjoy a 5.1 surround sound speaker setup and two additional overhead speakers for the ultimate experience in home theatre. It will even allow for the use of additional Dolby elevation speakers for that added sense of realism.

DTS:X

DTS:X will provide immersive audio, placing sound where it would natural occur in space. This will create a lifelike, multi-dimensional audio experience in the comfort of your home. The improved immersion and realism will truly make it feel as though you are right in the middle of your movie or TV show, living the story along with the characters. DTS Neural:X, the spatial remapping engine included with DTS:X, will offer a new and rejuvenated lease of life to your favourite movies, games and music.

Dual Sound Mode

The angular design, combined with the dual sound mode within the Dali Alteco C-1 Multi-Positional Speakers, allows this speaker to be used in a multitude of different scenarios. Choosinf “UP” on the front baffle switch in order to beam sound waves either straight outwards for a soft downward angle, or select “DOWN” to beam the sound almost completely down for close position listening.

Up-Firing Speaker

The angular design of this speaker also makes it ideal for use as an upward firing speaker. Combining this speaker with a surround receiver will allow it to render height information (which can be found in Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, or Auro-3D surround sound formats), placing it on top of the front speaker, and even on top of the rear speakers in order to offer reflected sound from the ceiling, rendering height information in compatible movies.

Wood Fibre Cones

The low-loss drivers used within the Dali Alteco C-1 Multi-Positional Speakers use a mixture of low-mass paper cones with wood fibre reinforcement that works to give the surface an uneven structure in order to dramatically minimise the resonance of the surface. This will create the best possible reproduction of sound, highlighting every detail within the audio signal.

Soft Dome Tweeter

The dome tweeter within this Dali Alteco C-1 will offer best-in-class resolution with an extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low colouration. Inspired by Dali’s previous high-end models, this tweeter is based on an ultra-lightweight weaved fabric, weighing less than half the market standard at 0.056 mg/mm2.
