The two custom drivers installed in the Bose Home Speaker 500 point in opposite directions, in order to bounce the sound off the walls. This technique results in a much wider soundstage than many other home smart speakers, powerful enough to fill any room with an outstanding stereo performance.

The Bose Home Speaker 500 has Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant built-in, allowing you to control the speaker with just your voice. Alexa can help you play, pause and shuffle your music, answer your questions, access news and weather reports, and more. When playing music or audio, for Alexa to still hear you clearly even when the music is loud, the Home Speaker 500 contains a custom designed eight microphone array for superior voice pick up. This makes sure that Alexa can always hear you to carry out your commands. When Alexa is listening, thinking or speaking, a light bar on the front of the speaker lets you know visually that Alexa has heard you. The voice access can be turned off at any time with a tap of the microphone button on the top of the speaker to cut power to the microphones.

With the Home Speaker 500 comes a whole variety of music choices. Play any music you like by connecting the speaker’s in-built Wi-Fi to your home network to use music services such as Spotify and Amazon Music. Alternatively, connect via Bluetooth and play anything from a Bluetooth enabled smartphone or tablet to hear your favourite songs from supported services like Deezer and TuneIn. An update for Apple AirPlay 2 is available early in the New Year.

Controlling the Home Speaker 500 hands free is made easy and simple with the Bose Music app, letting you browse all your music in a single place, to hop between services, playlists and more. The Bose app also helps you set up and create presets for the speaker, allowing different users to personalise their experience with the app. Button situated on the top of the speaker also allow you to control the music, by playing, pausing or skipping tracks, as well as featuring up to six different presets for playlists, radio stations and more. All your favourites are accessible with just the tap of a button.

The Bose Home Speaker 500 can connect to other devices in the range, such as the Soundbar 500 or 700, as well as other Home Speakers to form a multi-room system, so you can play music throughout your home.
