National Album Day 2019
This Saturday, 12th October 2019, National Album Day is back in the UK for the second year running. Marking the occasion, music fans, artists, DJs, labels, record shops and the wider music community are coming together to host a series of special events. While we aren't personally involved in this event it is certainly something to check out if you're near any of the places it is being hosted. These activities are set to take place all across the UK - head to the National Album Day website to find out what's going on near you.
On the agenda this National Album Day is themed ‘Don’t Skip’ – both to encourage fans and music lovers alike to discover albums – new and classic – in full, as a complete body of work that tells a story, you never know you could find a hidden gem you always skipped previously! It’s all a part of a mission to get the nation to enjoy the album from beginning to end, without hitting the skip button.
Programmes across the BBC to celebrate National Album Day include Elbow looking forward to the release of their new album Giants Of All Sizes with a session for Shaun Keaveny on 6 Music, a special ‘Pick of the Pops’ on Radio 2 counting down the best selling albums of the millennium so far, and on Radio 1 Annie Mac talks to artists about the albums that changed their lives, beginning with Jorja Smith.
So what are you waiting for? Head over to the National Album day website and check out the line ups, not to mention they have an amazing giveaway for 50 vinyl records!
