The Audioquest Black Lab Subwoofer Cable has been constructed using solid long-grain copper conductors. The use of solid conductors eliminates any strand-interaction distortion and the long-grain copper allows a much clearer and smoother sound than most oxygen-free high-conductivity copper cables that are available today. Long-grain copper has fewer oxides within the conducting material, as well as fewer impurities and grain boundaries, delivering an exceptionally greater performance than most other cables. Using foamed polyethylene insulation on both conductors, the Audioquest Black Lab is low loss, with a benign distortion profile and absorbs next to no energy. This allows the cable to deliver a much less out-of-focus performance that would otherwise be distorted. 

The Audioquest Black Lab Subwoofer Cable's metal -layer noise-dissipation system works prevent captured RF interference from modulating the equipment's ground reference. The noise-dissipation system will work to keep a significant amount of RFI from reaching the ground plane. The symmetrical coax geometry features identical plus and minus conductors that are used to prevent the shield from being used as an inferior audio conductor. Cold-welded and gold-plated plugs are used to allow for a connection that is devoid of solder, a common source of distortion. The metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability because of the fact that the ground shells have been stamped instead of machined.
