The Cyrus DAC X and DAC XP represent the very best possible digital audio performance combined with convenient operation. The digital decoder engines are able to upgrade 6 separate digital sources using our newly designed twin-mono, fully balanced decoder cards. The DAC X provides improvement, often dramatic, of any digital source including DAB radio, satellite / cable receivers, networked audio clients such as a Cyrus Linkport, video recorders and a variety of portable devices. Based on a long running development project the DAC X offers owners the opportunity to upgrade the audio capability of high-performance CD players and up to five additional digital audio components. Today many home entertainment systems include digital components offering a "digital out" fitted with either basic DAC's or use aging technology that limits audio performance. The DAC X can boost the performance of all the digital components in a system.
The DAC X is all bout accuracy. First a highly accurate reference clock is generated and this is used to locking together a special Sample Rate Converter and the Digital to Analogue Converter for maximum digital accuracy. After re-clocking (from a wide number of available original sample rates) the signal is up sampled to 192kHz before feeding to twin stereo DAC's designed in dual mono configuration enabling balanced operation. Operational elements of the system, such as the digital control signals, are optically isolated from the twin mono DAC cards improving the clarity of the system. The re-clocked digital signal benefits from the development of a carefully specified power supply system. Based on a custom designed ultra low noise torroidal power transformer, the power is cascaded through a number of sophisticated regulation stages and isolation techniques that ensure each section receives an unrestricted, noise free, power supply.
