http://www.avforums.com/forums/av-ampli ... hread.htmlFrom posts 414 onwards. Starts out as a HDMI makes no difference argument, then moves on to blind ABX testing - yep, you know the sort!! Richto links to two tests on the net. The first one claims that a Sony DVD player sounds the same as a Wadia CD player...

And now he's linked to a James Randi test. The last desparate posting of a skeptic.

" Kef Q500 (bright, overpowered bass) were not so great on Marantz but listenable on Nad (when you turn down the bass), but they need a pretty stable amp that can drive speakers with low impedances since they dip to 3ohms. The Q300 is easier to drive (dips to 4ohm) and has a more neutral sounding bass, but is still bright. "
Lights touchpaper and retires......

On the new Netflix service: Quote: Unfortunately the titles on offer are mostly crap What's expected for £5.99 per month?! It's HD! It's 5.1! What else is expected? New releases?!! There's actually some bloody good films in there.

And stupid comment of the weekend goes to this Quote: The Exorcist "The version you've never seen" last night... Boy was it slow moving and boring, can't believe people claim this is a terrifying film I am sorry but people need to watch more films with comments like this , again if Bay or Zyder did it and the sub was reaching 2hz then that would be great , muppets

When they say 'predictable', I'm assuming they mean they worked it out just as it happened... There were people slagging off Kill List on WHF because it makes no sense. No imagination at all. And as for the Exorcist comment, I think people expect non stop action nowadays, and want their dialogue based movies the same way. Maybe they'll like Social Network

From my experience of PC's over the years, with data corruption, read/write errors, etc etc, I'd say it's quite possible. There is a lot to consider though, and not just the Hard Drive itself.

About vinyl... Quote: It's harsh, it collapses the stereo image, it's screws around with phase and mistracking is offensive. Often over the years I've heard it and thought perhaps it was okay, but a track or two later, I realise I was right and that I can't stand it. And I've even tried £15,000 turntables! Quote: ...and you do immediately realise vinyl is horribly distorted. A bit strong. Quote: It's easy to show that vinyl and the equipment needed to play is not only horribly distorted, but massively more so than CD. That's why most aren't very keen on it. And there was me thinking it was a convenience/lazy thing.
Look for a Naim Audio dealer. Not because you're necessarily going to buy any Naim but because Naim are very selective about who they let sell their stuff. Dealers have to offer good demonstration facilities, good customer care and offer good back-up and service. Basically, if a dealer stocks Naim they are almost certainly a good dealer.
Surely this is wrong ???
