Mine are bi-wired because I already had the cable but would not say it is totally necessary, was advised to replace the jumper cables with the a little of your chosen leaker cable.

For amps only tried the two above both work really well. if you research and SE what worked well with the 805s whatever worked 5-10 years ago will still work now but should be cheaper used.

Yes found that they can be unforgiving, but it is more than made up bu the quality of sound that come out of the other CD's, I know we have similar music tastes, a lot of our collections are well recorded and sound fantastic, you will be re listening to your stuff and hearing things you never knew we're there, it gets better with the right amp and source too

Im happy with my transport which does the business very well indeed a teac vdrs10 adds so much to the play back of the cd my pres a Glenn croft 25 which I can send to Glenn to get it upgraded to a r as and when funds allow, my power amp is what's next to be honest.

But so far I love how well vocals more so female vocals come across but the stage detail etc are tremendous it has to be said, even the low end maybe not as deep as some like but I'm finding they fill my room nicely.

I listened to elbow yesterday night and it took me back when I went to see them in Newcastle utterly absorbed

I could not remember which source you had if I remember you have a seperate DAC? You should be pretty sorted for that (did not mean to imply it was not good just a general statement), in reality your custom amp is probably pretty good also, you may find the amp gains less than I did to be honest, but they do need lots of current.

The Bass is a personal thing and it is definatley not as deep as a floor stand with dedicated bass cone, but it goes fairly low for what it is and I is really clean and more importantly for me the timing is fantastic this is where the amp is important, I have a thread somewhere with tracks on I think sound good for Bass on my system - viewtopic.php?f=80&t=1351

Of late not purchased anything new, the Amazon list has plenty of stuff in there, need to have a splurge soon and buy a load, you are right the acoustic and vocal stuff sounds great it is what my system does well, and with the right speaker/listening position the sound stage is huge

No offence taken at all buddy i have a eastern electric minimax dacs that does the job just right!!!

Will have a look at it later , but overall very happy still. I have a gain clone regulated power amp now that seems to be doing the job just right for now. They dont sound as bright now than when I had the three channel one in.
